Honneur aux chiens et aux poneys qui ont conquis le pôle sud.
Des points géographiques de l'Antarctique vont être nommés d'après les noms de chiens de traîneaux et de poneys qui ont participé à la conquète du pôle sud aux côtés de Roald Amundsen, le norvégien et Robert Scott, l'anglais.
Ci contre, Amundsen et quelques uns de ses chiens.

Les chiens de traîneaux sont souvent utilisés pour donner l'alarme et éloigner les ours dans les régions reculées du nord de l'Alaska et du Canada. Mais ici, ils semblent que les animaux fassent bon ménage et soient même amis.
Amazing video of wild polar bears playing gently with sleddogs. Sleddogs are often used as warning when a polar bear approaches or to keep the bears away from man camps. But on that example, it seems that dogs and bears share the place as good neighbours and even friends.

Really interesting interview with an inuit musher telling us how he is working with his sleddogs to hunt polar bear with them.
Eilis Quinn interviews Joelie Sanguya, Inuit hunter and musher, as he prepares to go out on the land. He discusses how he communicates with the dogs on his sled team, training methods, the language he uses to train the dogs, and how the dogs on his team interact with each other. Joelie and his dogs are co-dependent to survive on the Arctic tundra, and he has a special relationship with each one of them.
